Macon County Department of Social Services will begin taking the Low Income Energy Assistance Applications on November 1, 2010 . Applications will continue to be taken through November 12, 2010 . The Low Income Energy Assistance Program provides a one time check to all eligible households in February of 2011. The check is for assistance with rising heat costs in the winter months.
Starting November 1, 2010 , Crisis Intervention applications will also be taken for individuals needing assistance for their immediate heating needs. Eligible households may receive assistance to buy fuel or to pay the electric or gas bill.
The Department of Social Services is located at 1832 Lakeside Drive in Franklin November 11, 2010 for Veterans Day and applications will not be taken on that day.
Applications will be taken in Highlands on Wednesday, November 10, 2010 from to at Macon County Recreation and Health Building Friday, November 12, 2010 from to at the EMS Building Junaluska Road .
